Dunes Foundation Donates Healthcare Centre To Piyanko Community In Nasarawa State

Dunes Foundation, an NGO, has donated a pre-primary healthcare centre to Piyanko community in Nasarawa State to help  improve access to medical services.
Founder of the organisation, Hajia Zainab Zeitou, said on Saturday at the official opening of the facility that the initiative was borne out of her desire to cater for the needy in the society.
Zeitou said the foundation would ensure the health needs of the people were provided.
She, therefore, urged members of the community to maintain the clinic and improve their lives, especially that of nursing mothers.

She commended the traditional leader of the community for making the land available for the construction of the clinic.
Mr Godwin Shuki, Project Officer of the foundation, said the clinic was provided after proper assessment had been carried out by both the community leaders and the foundation.
He said the lack of a healthcare facility in the community coupled with the need to reduce the hardship faced by people in seeking medical services informed the establishment of the clinic.
He said the foundation was involved in the improvement of education, water, women empowerment and healthcare sectors in rural areas.
He said the NGO would soon consider addressing the educational need of the community in due course.
The Sarki of Piyanko, Alhaji Abubakar Gado, expressed appreciation to the foundation for doanting the healthcare centre.
He, however, called for more support from well-meaning Nigerians.
He also called on the Federal Government to initiate programmes in the community that would engage the youth and encourage them to shun immoral acts.
“This community has been in existence for more than 67 years and there has been little development as far as I am concerned.
“Our politicians come here and campaign with promises that are never fulfilled.
“Our women deliver at home; no school and no meaningful life in the community.
