El-Zakzaky’s followers petition UN, EU, ICC

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, has petitioned the UnitedNations, European Union, the Economic Community of West AfricanStates, ECOWAS, and the InternationalCriminal Court, ICC, to prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari to release their leader, Ibrahim el-Zakzaky, and his wife, who had been in detention for almost two years.

Chairman, Free Zakzaky Campaign Committee, Sheikh Abdulhamid Bello, told newsmen in Kaduna that the corpses of 347 IMN members, who were killed and buried in mass grave, should be exhumed and given proper Islamic burial.According to Sheikh Bello, an independent and impartial panel should be constituted to investigate and unveil the truth about the Army massacre of Shiites members in Zariain 2015.
His words: “Our leader, Sheikh Ibraheem el-Zakzaky, his wife and several hundred of our members are being detained, with several of our properties, including residences, schools and Islamic centres demolished.“ Our leader remains in detention without charges, incommunicado for two years, one year after a Federal High Court had declared his detention as unconstitutional, a breach of his rights and freedoms; and therefore ordered for his unconditional release. “We call on the international community, and especially the UN, EU,AU, ECOWAS and the ICC to add more pressure on the government to live up to its responsibilities as regards the issue of the IMN in general and Sheikh Ibrahim el-Zakzaky in particular.”
