One dead in attack on Kano town


Suspected armed robbers at the weekend reportedly attacked Garo town in Kabo Local Government Area of Kano State, killing one person, while two others suffered varying degree of injuries.
According to an eyewitness account, Abdulmumuni Abubakar, the suspected robbers earlier targeted a businessman in the town, unfortunately for them, he was not within the neighborhood.

According to Abubakar, the attack, which started at about 11p.m, forced residents to flee the area.
Following the absence of their target, they promptly raided and set ablaze five shops, destroying property worth millions of naira.
Confirming the robbery attack, the spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, Musa Magaji Majiya, said: ‘’Some robbers invaded Garo town in Kabo Local Government Area of the state. Their motive was to attack a businessman in the area but unfortunately, they failed to find their target.’’
Majia explained that the robbers opted to attack shops within the town, razing five in the process.
He said no sooner the police received a distress call than some crack police officers were drafted to the scene, during which one of the robbers was gunned down, while the other two in a desperate attempt to escape suffered fractures on their legs.
The police spokesman also said investigation on the incidence had commenced, stressing that the police are determined to nab the fleeing accomplices.
