Nasarawa State
Government has expressed shock over the death of Alhaji Bashir Lawal Kano, the
state Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), who
passed away yesterday. Bashir Kano died yesterday morning at the Dalhatu Araf
Specialist Hospital (DASH), Lafia, after a brief illness at the age of 55.
The State Deputy
Governor, Silas Ali Agara, who led a high powered delegation to condole the
deceased family on behalf Governor Almakura, described him as a brother, friend
and a mentor to many who have contributed immensely to the security situation
and civil protection of the state.
Agara said the people of
the state, will miss the late commandant for his simple nature and doggedness
in handling security matters. The state delegation who commiserated with the
deceased family in his Lafia residence, prayed God to grant him eternal rest.
Late Bashir Kano, who
hailed from Kano Municipal in Kano State, died leaving behind a wife and six
children. He was appointed as Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) in 2005, and was
promoted to Commandant of Corps (CC) in 2011.
He served in Kano,
Ebonyi, Zamfara, and Nasarawa State Commands respectively. He also served at
the Zonal Headquarters of the service in Zone F, Abeokuta, and zone E Owerri.
