 2. Bishop John Richard who led the team expressed great delight at the reception accorded him and members of the forum by the IGP and his management team. The Bishop, in his speech said he and his team noticed the rapid improvement in the Nation’s security since the IGP assumed duty.

3. The clergy man informed the IGP that members of the forum were at the Force Headquarters to among other things congratulate and felicitate with him on his confirmation as the 19th indigenous Inspector General of Police and to encourage him to do more as his sterling qualities have inevitably raised the expectations of Nigerians in securing lives and property across the country.

4. While responding, the IGP noted that the visit of members of the forum was symbolic, as it came on his 100th day in office. He thanked the forum for the visit and stated that he was humbled by the show of love from such revered men of God. He urged the forum to uphold and encourage societal morals among their folks, saying these morals were universal irrespective of religious affiliation. He enjoined them to support what is right all the time and used their positions and wealth of experience to support the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining peace throughout the Country.

5. He further stated that their visit was no surprise to him, as religious leaders and Police were natural allies due to their mutual obligation as peace makers. Finally, he appealed to the forum to always support and pray for the Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria at large. They should encourage security awareness amongst their worshipers and followers as the war against crime is for everyone, admonishing them that change must start with ‘me’.
