How a single Presidential directive led to defeat of Boko Haram- Burutai

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Burutai  extolled President Muhammad Buhari's leadership capability, stating that a single  presidential directive from him led to unprecedented victory against Boko Haram.
Presenting a speech at a conference on Peace Building and Reconstruction in Lake Chad Basin held in Yola, Burutai said  the directive to  relocate the Army Command and Control Centre ‎to Maiduguri was key to military success in North East.

He noted that strategic decisions taken by the President provided a new focus and energy to Nigerian troops ‎fighting Boko Haram.

‎"I received a Presidential directive to move the Army Command and Control Centre to Maiduguri and to subsequently defeat Boko Haram by December last year (2015). This strategic directive provided the platform upon which we undertook the task which has largely been achieved", he stated.

The Army Chief noted that the military was charged with the task of defeating the militants, regaining lost territory and rescuing all abducted persons including Chibok girls

‎He  said  the military would not relent until all liberated towns and villages become safe and conducive for economic and social activities.

He, therefore, commended Nigerian legislators, governments of neighboring countries, the African Union and the  international community for their support in the war against insurgency in Nigeria.
