FG sacks FAAN directors, GMs, deputy GMs

A major shake-up hit the aviation industry yesterday as the federal government sacked directors, general managers and deputy general managers of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
The sack was part of the planned restructuring of the agency which was said to have been in the pipeline since the new administration took over.
Also affected were general managers who were said to have not been properly placed in the organization. Those sacked have been directed to hand over to the most senior person in each of the departments.
A source who confirmed the sack to our correspondent said it was the first batch of the planned restructuring process.
Many of the affected senior officials also confirmed the sack yesterday though there was no official statement from the federal government, although the sack was reportedly approved by the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
It was also gathered that the restructuring in the airport authority was a fallout of a panel’s report headed by the Head of Service, Mrs Winifred Oyo - Ita which recommended ‘right-sizing’ of the agency
