Kano Government Closes Down School On Alleged Sodomy

Kano State government has directed Private and voluntary schools Board to close down Hassan Ibrahim Gwarzo boys Private College with immediate effect over allegations child abuse.
The directive was issued by the acting governor of Kano State professor Hafiz Abubakar while inaugurating 14-man committee to investigate the matter.

Professor hafiz Abubakar who expressed government concern over the unfortunate report said the committee is under former Vice Chancellor, University of Maiduguri Professor Abubakar Mustapha.
He mandated the committee to include critical investigation of the alleged reported sodomy against students of the Hassan Ibrahim Gwarzo Secondary school for boys at sallari quarters and Identify all victims to the alleged cases as well as to establish the extent of the abuse.
The acting governor further stated that the committee should identify culprits involved in the alleged act of sodomy against the students and establish levels of culpability.
The committee will also to investigate on whether the school management was aware on the cases and establish its culpability or otherwise, Prof. Hafiz added.
The acting governor also mandated the committee to recommend appropriate action to be taken by government based on its findings and observation as well as any matter incidental to the assignment.
The committee has 2 weeks to submit its report to the government.
