Kano Emirate Cautions Late Ado Bayero’s Eldest Son Over Disloyalty

Kano Emirate Council has concluded plans to issue a final warning to eldest son of late Ado Bayero, Lamido Ado Abdullahi Bayero over what it termed disloyalty and desertion of his primary post.
The Ciroma of Kano, Alhaji Lamido Ado Bayero is the district head of Gwale local government area and is the eldest among late Ado Bayero’s sons who could have succeeded his father, if not for Allah’s will that Sanusi Lamido, his cousin, would occupy the position.


A reliable source in the emirate confirmed to LEADERSHIP that a letter was actually written in   respect to the Ciroma’s alleged disloyalty to the present emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, and the entire emirate, but not yet presented to him.

He confirmed that family members have taken it upon themselves to convey the message verbally to Ciroma Lamido and to persuade him to do what is right for the emirate and Bayero’s family.

Our source warned in stronger terms that the attitude of the Ciroma cannot be condoned by the   present emirate council stating that he should pledge his loyalty to Emir Sanusi and go back to his primary   post or face dethronement.

According to our source who is also one of the Bayeros, such disloyalty had happened in   the history of Kano emirate and resulted into a confrontation where a disloyal   family member waged a war to usurp power from an emir.

It would recalled that during the one year anniversary of late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero   held at Musa Abdullahi auditorium, Bayero University, Kano, in the presence of late Bayero’s sons, Maitama Sule, Danmasanin Kano and Bayero’s junior brother and his secretary, the renowned professor   of history and childhood and trusted friend of late Bayero, Professor Emeritus Dahiru Yahaya   explained in detail a kind of verbal will of late Bayero that he don’t want any of his sons to succeeded him.

Professor Emeritus, Dahiru Yahaya stated that together with late Bayero he spent decades exploring   history of the emirate that finally convinced the emir that any of the sons of an emir of Kano that   succeeded his father directly ended up in exile.

According to him late Bayero wished for his sons and daughters peaceful lives after his death.

Prof. Yahaya stated categorically that late Ado Bayero once told Kano State governor that if he is died none of his children should succeed him, and that instead of his son succeeding him, Abbas Sanusi, the then Wambai of Kano should be made Kano emir.
