The 80mw Dutse solar power plant in Jigawa State will commence power generation and transmission to national grid by the last quarter of 2017.The managing director NOVA SCOTIA Power Development Ltd, Amit Modi, revealed these when he led the technical partners of the company to a courtesy visitto Governor Muhammadu Badaru at Dutse Government House.He said the company has proposed to spend $150 million for the construction of the generating plant sited at the outskirts of the state capital, Dutse. Mr Amit added that the company in collaboration with its technical partners are committed to all terms of agreement signed for the establishment of the power plant.
According to him they have already settled all the land compensation, and will soon commence the civil and technical work. “ If everything goes normal by last quarter of 2017 we will start transmission to national grid”.
In his remarks, Governor Badaru describedthe project as timely and something that will enhance the state government’s policy on “Investment Promotion Strategy.” “Presently a number of national and foreign investors have indicated interest toinvest in our state, the provision of this power project will certainly serve as moral booster to the investors. “Due to the importance we attached to yourproject, we have done everything within thestate and federal to facilitate all necessary documentations, and we vow to support you until the project sees the light of the day. ”The governor appealed to the NOVA company to look at the possibility of completing the project in the first half of 2017 to enable the state enjoy more patronage from local and foreign investors.
