Thousands of residents in Kaduna have been rendered homeless as the Kaduna river over flow it’s bank. A visit to some of the flooded areas saw many of the affected victims watching helplessly.
Some of those whose house was affected but could access there house were seen packing out some of their belongings albeit with the assistance of some boys who could swim for a token of up to 20,000 thousand. Some whose vehicle vehicles were trapped had to pay up to 12,000 naira for their vehicles to be brought out according to one of the victim. Areas highly flooded include Barnawa, Kudenda, Kigo new extension, Ungwa romi, Rafin gusa among others. Meanwhile, officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), civil defence, Red Cross among others were on ground at the Kigo new extension rendering relevant assistant. Some of the victims lamented that they have lost monies and properties worth millions to the flood .
No official statement from relevant agencies have been released and no report of death was recorded as at the time of filing this report.
