Mr Amos Thliza FRSC state sector commander gave the warning on Friday in Gusau in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He cautioned parents who are fond of releasing their vehicles to their under-aged children and wards to desist from the illegal act.
He said that under-aged driving contributed to the high figures of fatal accidents in the state. “Under-age driving is against Nigeria’s road traffic rules and regulations; some parents are guilty of encouraging this illegality despite the risks and dangers associated with it,’’ he said.
Thliza said the command had embarked on series of enlightenment programmes in partnership with the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to forestall the high number of accidents recorded during the “ember’’ months.
He appealed to public and stakeholders in road safety operations in the state to support and cooperate with the command to reduce the rate of road mishap in the state during the ember months.
