UNICEF partners Katsina on health sensitization



The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has partnered with Katsina state government, through the Primary Health Care Development Agency to expand the existing Viewer Listeners Club (VLC), a community participation program aimed at educating and sensitizing communities on health best practices.
Speaking at the distribution of media equipment ahead of the commencement of the expanded programme in Katsina, the state Health Educator, Binta Hussain said the tremendous impact recorded from the program had led to its expansion from nine to 48 VLC across 12 local government areas of the state.
She said the main thrust of the program was to generate information, promote local knowledge and encourage information sharing, especially to benefit communities with limited access to the media.
In his remarks, UNICEF representative at the meeting, Anson Zwan , said partnership with the media was a vital tool towards reaching the communities for greater impact especially with regards to behavioral change on best health practices.
