H.E Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam has called on the new Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Saleh Abubakar and other appointees sworn-in to office today to "work relentlessly to justify the confidence reposed in them by the government and people of the state".
The governor spoke at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed officials at Government House Damaturu this morning.
The other officers sworn-in to office include the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Alhaji Saboli Muhammad Gwio-Kura and new members of the State Judicial Service Commission and Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Alhaji Baba Gishiwari and Alhaji Ali Garga Bulama respectively.
"Today’s event will further reinvigorate the administrative machinery in the State, strengthen the promotion of rule of law, equity, justice, accountability, transparency, and probity in the conduct of government business", the governor said. "It will further serve as a step towards the entrenchment of our reform programme in all sectors of our state's economy".
H.E Gov. Gaidam, who paid tribute to the services rendered by the four officials in various capacities before their current appointments, said their appointments were "well deserved".
The governor spoke specifically about the new head of service, saying he is man of sterling qualities who, as Chief of Staff to the governor before his appointment, changed the face of service delivery at the Government House.
The governor called on him to strive to reposition the civil service.
"As the overriding objective of public service is to achieve and maintain an institution that is well structured and organized, I charge the Head of Service to further reposition all staff in the state civil service to possess the right skills, attitudes and motivation to enable them to perform their work effectively and efficiently. It should be noted that the civil service should also be a proactive and value-driven organ capable of delivering timely and quality services to the people of the state in line with the vision of our administration", the governor said.
