The Yobe State Government is to spend N706, 679 205.00 to renovate and rehabilitate two additional secondary schools as part of ongoing effort to retrofit schools and enhance education service delivery.
The schools are Government Girls Secondary School Nguru and Government Secondary School, Nangere.
Commissioner for Information, Home Affairs and Culture Alhaji Mala Musti revealed this late yesterday while briefing the press on the outcomes of the State Executive Council meeting chaired by H.E Governor Ibrahim Gaidam at Government House Damaturu Wednesday.
The two secondary schools bring to five the number of schools to undergo complete renovation and expansion under the Gaidam administration's drive to improve the state's education sector.
Three secondary schools in Yunusari, Gwio-Kura and Fika were earlier awarded for reconstruction and rehabilitation and work in all of them is now nearly completed.
Mala Musti added that the State Executive Council had approved N199, 200, 000.00 for the procurement of 1, 590 Metric Tonnes of NPK Fertilizer for use by farmers in the 2017 farming season.
The information Commissioner also said that the State EXCO had ratified other spends undertaken by the Gaidam administration to advance public welfare, including student scholarships, construction of roads and repair of a ridge, supply of a dialysis machine at Yobe University Teaching Hospital (YSUTH)
