The Bauchi state government under the leadership of Gov. M. A. Abubakar is aggressively implementing her plan to roll back malaria in the state. This was disclosed recently by Alh. Abubakar Usman Misau, the Executive Secretary of Bauchi State Agency for Control of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis/Leprosy and Malaria (BACATMA). He made the disclosure at a joint public lecture organised by BACATMA and Evidence for Action (E4A)
Alhaji Misau also mentioned that an intensive distribution of anti-malaria drugs, mosquito treated nets and other critical medical consumables needed in the fight against malaria have been distributed throughout the state, with a special focus on vulnerable groups like women and children.
Breaking down the
figures, the BACATMA scribe revealed that a total of 333,400 long
lasting insecticide treated nets; 1,519,688 dosages of ACT Anti-malaria
drugs, 1,034,260 RTD malaria diagnosis kits among others have been
distributed. He added that health workers have also been trained and
deployed in the state to meet growing health challenges.
