Kano State Govt., Ruyi Group of China Sign a MoU to Establish $600m African Biggest Textile Industrial Park in Kano

Kano State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ruyi Group of China for the establishment of a $600Million Textile Industrial Park in Kano, which will be one of the biggest in Africa upon completion.
The MoU, which was signed by Alhaji Usman Alhaji Secretary to the Kano State Government on its behalf and Mr Ya Fu Qiuon on behalf of the Ruyi Group in the presence of His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje OFR and the Chairman of Ruyi Group, at the Headquarters of Ruyi Group of Companies, a multi-billion dollar Chinese Textile Company.

Governor Ganduje in his remarks thanked the Chairman of Ruyi group for the invitation to visit their factories in Jining, the Province of Shandong China, which he said was impressive and of world class standard. He added that on his part, his administration has put alot of efforts in ensuring that Kano has become the number one destination not only in Nigeria but also in West Africa. He further stated that he is committed & determined to provide the Ruyi Group an enabling environment for the smooth take-off of the project in Kano. He also informed the investors that the state has over 1000 sewing machines and requested Ruyi Group to come and inspect them with a view of incorporating them into the Textile Industrial Park.
On his part, the Chairman of Ruyi Group said, having the governor come personally for the signing of the MoU has boosted his confidence for the successful implementation of the project. Additionally, they've done extensive research in Africa, and selected 3 countries Nigeria, Egypt and Mali where they intend to invest over $2Billion, and in Nigeria, Kano is their chosen state for such investment.
The Chairman further added that the lack of steady power supply is the number one impediment for the project as such, they will like to partner with Kano State Government to boost the capacity of the ongoing Hydro Power project at Tiga and Challawa, and also look at the possibility of doing initiating a solar power project specifically for the Textile Industrial Park in the state.
It will be recalled that the group sent a delegation to Kano 3 months ago where they had the first discussion and later on invited Governor Ganduje to their headquarters in Jining, China for the signing of the MoU. Apart from the $600 Million Textile Industrial Park, Ruyi Group is also looking at investing in the existing Textile companies currently in Kano.
