In its continued efforts at bridging the
accommodation gap in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to ensure effective and
efficient service delivery, another set of accommodation was yesterday
commissioned at NAF Base Minna. The 10 x 1 residential block, which would
accommodate Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) serving in Minna, was named after
late Flight Sergeant Hassan TM, in line with the policy of the current NAF leadership to immortalise NAF personnel who
paid the supreme sacrifice in the course of service to the nation. The Chief of
Administration (COA), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Lawal Alao, who represented the
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, performed the
commissioning. The COA stated that the idea behind the infrastructural
development being
witnessed in various NAF units in recent times was to improve
accommodation sufficiency thereby boosting personnel welfare. AVM Alao urged
the prospective occupants of the accommodation to ensure adequate care of the
new facilities.
Earlier in his remarks at the
occasion, the Commander 351 Base Services Group, Air Commodore Idi Amin, said
that aside from the new NCOs accommodation being commissioned, the Base had in
the past witnessed the commissioning of numerous projects, which included an
office complex and various types of residential accommodations. He also
commended the current NAF leadership for addressing the challenge of
infrastructural deficiency on the NAF Base in Minna. Only a few weeks ago, the
Chief of the Air Staff commissioned 18 x 2 newly built Senior Non-Commissioned
Officers’ accommodation in Minna.
