The Nasarawa State
Governor, Tanko Al-Makura has called for international collaboration to improve
the economy of the state and to better the lots of the people.
The governor made this call when he hosted ambassadors of
Scandinavian countries comprising Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark at the
government house in Lafia.
He believes that a partnership with the foreign countries will
open a vista of development for the state and scale up its revenue base.
“It is for this reason that I would like to open a new vista for
a relationship in the field of agriculture, health, education, real estate
between Nasarawa state and these countries
“As a matter of fact, we will be highly interested in
collaboration and support from these countries. We are trying to package what
we call the comprehensive special school, one of the largest in the whole of
this country that is supposed to take care of people living with disabilities,”
he said.
Al-makura also called for collaboration to improve
education in the state, especially in adding value to special education and
teaching children with disability.
“We have built the school and we are in the process of
furnishing it for take-off in January and we are inviting the northern
countries to come and collaborate with us with a view to adding value to
special education especially as it relates to children with disabilities in the
form of visual disability, hearing disability, physical disability, and hearing
disability.”
