In Kebbi - The Kebbi Government has awarded contracts worth N1.46
billion for construction of 108 kilometres stretch of roads in Jega and Bagudo
Local Government areas of the state.
The
roads are Dan-Warai – Geferu road-Inwala – Dumbegu road and rehabilitation of
Kaoje -Illo road in Jega and Bagudo Local Government areas of the state.
Alhaji
Atiku Bunu, the state Commissioner for Works and Transport, disclosed this on
Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi while signing of the contract agreements with China
Zhonghao and Abmusta Construction Engineering Nigeria Ltd.
“The
Dan-Warai – Geferu road is eight km and awarded to the Abmusta Co. at the cost
of N784 million, while the 2.4km Inwala – Dumbegu road is awarded to the
Chinese company at the cost of N283 million.
“Similarly,
the rehabilitation of 97 km Ka’oje-Illo road is also awarded to the Chinese
company at the cost of N402 million,” he said.
Bunu said the projects were expected to be completed
within 12 months period.
He
urged the contractors to do quality jobs based on the contractual agreements.
“You
should also ensure speedy execution of the projects in line with the
agreements,” he said.
The
commissioner said the road projects were indications of the commitment of the
incumbent administration to better the well being of the people of the state.
“When
the projects are completed, they will ease transportation problems facing
communities in Jega and Bagudo areas,” he said.
In
their separate remarks, Alhaji Umar Babangida, the General Manager of Ambusta
Company, and Mr Wei Meng, the Project Manager of the Chinese firm, assured the
state government that the projects would be executed on schedule.
They
thanked the state government for patronising their companies.
